Your connection is Brian Clough’s online radio show the American Connection – and the song that has brought fame and fortune to both artists ‘The Climb’.
Joe, of course, is the Geordie lad from South Shields who catapulted to stardom with his performances (and a little help from Cheryl Cole) on the nation’s most popular entertainment show.

He now has a recording deal worth £1m in his pocket and is one of the hottest celebrity properties around. This week he rocked his home town when he signed copies of his new record at the HMV store in the town centre.
Fans had camped out overnight to be among the lucky first 500 to receive a personally signed copy from Joe and a flash of that famous smile that endeared him to millions watching the X-Factor.
The Climb enjoyed serious success earlier this year when it was released by Miley Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and star of Hannah Montana the hit TV series (and a movie) in which she plays college student Miley Stewart with ambitions to be a pop singing star enter her alter ego Hannah Montana.
Joe will be hoping to follow Miley’s mega successful career path and the song that links the two of them has certainly made a massive contribution.
‘The Climb’, performed by Miley was the second most watched video on You Tube’s global site in 2009 notching up over 64 million views.
